What is a closed-loop geothermal system?

In a closed-loop system, a continuous loop of buried pipe circulates a water/antifreeze solution in a sealed system — the fluid never contacts the ground or groundwater directly. It's the most common residential installation and doesn't require a water source.
Loops can be installed horizontally in trenches (requires more land) or vertically in bored holes (smaller footprint, higher drilling cost).
Vinson and Sill is closed-loop certified and self-performs all installation — no subcontractors.
