Can geothermal work for homes in rural Illinois?

Rural properties are often ideal for geothermal — horizontal loop installations require land (typically ½ to 1 acre for a typical home) that rural lots have in abundance.
Vertical bore installations are an option for tighter sites but cost more due to drilling. If you have a well on the property, we can also assess whether an open-loop (pump-and-reinjection) configuration makes sense, though closed-loop is generally preferred for its reliability and minimal maintenance.
