What are the signs my septic system is failing?

Warning signs include slow-draining fixtures throughout the house (not just one), gurgling sounds in your plumbing, sewage odor inside the house or in the yard above the drain field, wet or unusually green grass over the drain field, and in severe cases, sewage backup into the house.

Any of these symptoms warrants immediate service — a failing septic system is a health hazard and the repair cost escalates dramatically the longer it runs.
