What causes low water pressure throughout my house?

Whole-house low pressure usually has one of three causes: a partially closed main shutoff valve, a failing pressure regulator (a bell-shaped device near your main line), or buildup inside aging galvanized pipes that have corroded and restricted flow over time.

In Quincy and surrounding areas, older homes with original galvanized plumbing are especially prone to this.

A plumber can diagnose the cause in one visit and tell you whether it's a simple fix or the sign of bigger pipe issues ahead.
